Julie Richardson

Julie joined GMAT in April 2024, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a proven track record in driving significant change and school improvement. Previously the Headteacher at Verulam Boys' School in St Albans, Julie has led educational advancements across Hertfordshire, North and East London, as well as Essex.

An English teacher by trade, Julie has a strong expertise in curriculum development, timetabling, and teaching and learning. She holds the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and is currently completing the National Professional Qualification for Executive Leadership (NPQEL). Julie is deeply committed to ensuring that every child feels 'known and loved,' and she prioritises diversity, equity, inclusion, and mental health and wellbeing in her leadership.

Beyond her work within schools, Julie is a respected voice in the educational community, having spoken at a number of international conferences. She has also successfully planned and hosted her own conferences, bringing together practitioners from diverse settings to share excellence.
